We think that Hikari will be able to keep that Shadow self and hear its voice without the need of a tattoo. However the physical and magical changes that would normally be granted by the voice will only return after receiving the tattoo.

Before the tattoo, the influence from the voice will be suppressed. After receiving the tattoo, the voice can have more influence on Hikari, but we'll leave it to player discretion as to how much.
