Heya mods! I have some fun and specific questions with regards to Xenk's magic. As a DND Paladin, Xenk's Oath of Devotion stems from a pact made with his god (Tyr) to abide by Tenets and receive magical powers in exchange. His oath powers come from a god, basically.
In-game I've been playing it vague because Xenk doesn't know, and neither do I, if the powers he has in game are technically still from Tyr or if it's really just a recreation in this world and Tyr Cannot Hear Him. (I'm guessing it's the latter.)
Now here's the thing: what controls whether those powers work or not? Is it Xenk's internal logic on how the magic should work, or does the tattoo simply replicate those powers, despite logic? I'm asking because, canonically, Xenk would lose his powers if he broke his oath.
However, if that oath isn't technically connecting him to his god at all right now, would it still break if he went against his oath? Would it break if Xenk realized he isn't connected to his god? I'm down for any of these options, but I just wanted to confirm before I start plotting anything
