Okay, after discussing with Rem's player, it seems Rem's original intent was to find something that could house a lot of souls so she can eventually use them to create a strong revival/resurrection spell. Rem wants to not only be able to use this spell to revive others but also so she can imbue the spell into a bracelet so it will revive HER when she dies (there are canonical reasons for her wanting this but tl;dr this is her goal).
After learning this, I had a thought: since the auracite is definitely quite OP as it is and capable not only of housing a lot of magical power as well as corrupting individuals with strong desires, could we use it to create a mini-plot in which using the auracite will ultimately backfire on Rem and destroy it? Rem's player has said they are happy to have it backfire disastrously and, since Emet's intent is simply to assist her agenda, I am also fine with having the auracite destroyed before it can actually cause power balance issues.
(I also apologise if it's inappropriate to negotiate like this. The main reason I want it is because the auracite is serving as a character development function for Rem and Emet; I definitely don't want it to unbalance anything!)
