CANON UPDATE

There is a two week wait limit for updating to new material. Everything must be marked for spoilers.

When a canon updates a character, they will physically leave the world at random (ie, involuntary) and come back with new knowledge and experience. They will not retain memories of Escordvi while there, however players are free to play around with the idea of characters having odd dreams that might give vague hints or glimpses about some things about the world. Nothing concrete for them to recall or say anything more than, "Well that was weird."

Characters can be gone for up to three in-game days.

Any new abilities and items can return with them except for anything that would fall under the usual restrictions.

Canon Update

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2024-02-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)

Player: CS
Character: Lyney
Canon: Genshin Impact
Current Canon Point: Version 4.0 Update (Post Felis Fuscus Chapter Act 1)
New Canon Point: Version 4.2 Update (Post Archon Quest Chapter IV: Act V - Masquerade of the Guilty)
Updated Background: Alright I’m going to split this into two parts, one for 4.1 info and one for 4.2 info, just so it’s not all clumped together.

4.1 Important Info:
🃏At the start of 4.1, the Traveler (Aether in this case) is asked to by Chief Justice Neuvillette investigate the Fortress of Meropide, a large underwater facility that serves as Fontaine’s prison. The reason for this is that, after Childe’s arrest at the end of the 4.1 chapter, Childe is reported missing and fellow Harbinger Arlecchino has been pressing to investigate his whereabouts (as well as use this as an opportunity to investigate the secrets of the Fortress itself). So, false charges are pressed against the Traveler and Paimon so they are able to enter the Fortress. While the Traveler is investigating investigating, he finds Lyney and his siblings in the Fortress as well, having entered the Fortress by performing a magic trick that resulted in the theft of his entire audience’s wallets (which Lyney states are actually all just stored “in the leftmost drawer of the Maison Gardiennage’s big filing cabinet”). Lyney admits that Arlecchino had sent Fatui agents to bribe the guards of the Fortress to allow them to investigate, but suddenly all of their informants had vanished, and wanted to know why. The two decide to pair up to investigate the Fortress’s secrets and Childe’s disappearance.
🃏While investigating, Lyney and the Traveler create a plan to have Freminet sneak out of one of the underwater vents to see if Childe had used it to escape the Fortress. During the investigation, Lynette fails to meet up with Lyney and the Traveler, causing Lyney to get anxious. After finding a note left by the Fortress’s warden Wriothesley insinuating that he has Lynette, and coming to the conclusion that the ease of their investigation was due to Wriothesley being aware of their plans, Lyney begins to panic for Lynette’s and Freminet’s safety. He rushes to confront Wriothesley in his office where Wriothesley admits that he was aware of their investigation and was the cause of all the Fatui informants in the Fortress going missing, claiming that he had them removed for the safety of the Fortress. Furthermore, he admits to not only having Lynette in his custody but also closed the outside gates so Freminet couldn’t return into the Fortress, causing Lyney to become even more distressed. Wriothesley makes a proposal; he’ll return Lyney’s siblings in exchange for a meeting with Arlecchino, whom he wanted to speak to for some time. When Lyney hesitates for too long, Wriothesley says the deal is off the table and dismisses them, causing Lyney to lash out and try to attack Wriothesley; the only reason the attack fails is because the Fortress’s head nurse Sigewinne arrives in time to tranquilize Lyney and subdue him.
🃏After Lyney tries to attack Wriothesley, Clorinde, Fontaine’s Champion Duellist and an old friend of Wriothesley’s, enters the office with a near-unconscious Freminet, who has an accelerated pulse and a flushed face; Sigewinne concludes he’s ingested a large amount of Primordial Seawater, a substance that has the ability to cause those kinds of symptoms and that can cause a citizen of Fontaine to dissolve into water if they come in contact with a large amount of it. After stabilizing Freminet, Clorinde explains that large amounts of Primordial Seawater has been seen mixing with the ocean near the Fortress, causing concern in Wriothesley. Lynette is then released from his custody, and Lyney reunites with her. Together the twins help take Freminet to the infirmary, where Freminet admits that he had recognized the Primordial Seawater and tried to return, but passed out before doing so. If it wasn’t for Clorinde, he likely would have died in the water. Lyney takes a moment to rest in the Infirmary with Lynette and Freminet, who try to help assuage his guilt over the situation.
🃏While Lyney remains with his siblings, the Traveler goes to meet with Wriothesley, who tells the Traveler of his plans and what’s been kept a secret in the Fortress of Meropide all this time: that beneath the Fortress is a font that contains a vast amount of Primordial Seawater, and that he’s not only been keeping an eye on its rising levels, but also building a massive ship to house as many people as possible. This is all in relation to the prophecy that’s been haunting Fontaine for centuries: that the sea will engulf all of Fontaine and “only the Hydro Archon will remain, weeping on her throne.“ The Traveler reveals this information to Lyney and his siblings, who all surmise that perhaps the reason Wriothesley wanted to meet with Arlecchino was to work together to avert this crisis. Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet thank the Traveler and tell him that he can call upon the House of the Hearth at any time, claiming that “after all that we’ve gone through together, the three of us basically see you as family now.”
🃏After Lyney and his siblings leave the Fortress, the Fortress of Meropide comes into danger as the font of Primordial Seawater threatens to burst. The Traveler assists Wriothesley and Clorinde in stopping the flow temporarily, but Wriothesley urges the Traveler to bring Neuvillette down to assist. They fetch Neuvillette, who goes down to stop the Primordial Seawater with his powers, but urges the Traveler to be with Hydro Archon Lady Furina, who is currently in a meeting with Arlecchino. Arlecchino pressures Furina about what she is doing to stop the crisis Fontaine is facing, but eventually concludes the meeting and leaves. After the meeting, Arlecchino speaks to the Traveler, admitting that “It’s unfortunate that Lyney’s so eager to prove himself that he can’t learn to rely on others… including me.” She states she will look forward to working with the Traveler, who then passes on this information to Lyney. Paimon also lets Lyney know that Arlecchino had said Lyney should work on relying on others more, much to his surprise, and he, his siblings, and the Traveler and Paimon agree to have a tea party when things calm down.

4.2 Important Info:
🃏The crisis of Fontaine is slowly getting worse; the waters continue to rise, and the Traveler speaks to Neuvillette about tremors he and the others in Fontaine felt. It turns out that the waters around the village of Poisson had risen dramatically, and was infused with Primordial Seawater, causing those who had been caught within to dissolve and those escaping to be injured in the rush to get to safety. In the aftermath, Arlecchino appears to speak with the Traveler and Navia, and admits that she had mobilized the Fatui to help the people of Poisson; Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet were among the members helping get people to safety. She also reaffirms her aid to the Traveler and states that Lyney had told her that the Traveler is someone that he, Lynette, and Freminet trusts the most outside of the members of the House. Because of that fact, she gives the Traveler information about some ruins that may hold information about Fontaine’s prophecy and urge him to investigate.
🃏After investigating the ruins, and later trying and failing to confront Furina on the matter of the crisis, Neuvillete and the Traveler gather several people in the now-abandoned ruins of Poisson: Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, Navia, and Clorinde. Together, they agree they need to make Furina confess as to what she knows of the prophecy and how it relates to both her and the former Hydro Archon. They all agree to devise a trap for Furina to force her into a trial. Navia and her agents in the Spina di Rosula act as instigators to stir unrest in the people of Fontaine, forcing Furina to seek shelter from them. The Traveler helps her find a place to shelter, but it’s all a ruse; the hiding place is actually a giant Magic Box constructed by Lyney and the other members of the Fatui. Using the same box-swap trick he did in 4.0, he used the Magic Box to bring Furina to the Opera Epiclese to stand trial. When she tries to refuse the charge, Neuvillette states she can either accept the trial or stand to duel against Clorinde. She chooses the former and agrees to stand trial.
🃏During the trial, a shocking revelation is revealed: Furina is not actually the true Hydro Archon, and never possessed the powers of an Archon in the first place, or even the powers of Hydro. In fact, she is a regular human who was masquerading as the Hydro Archon. Though this was the aim of the Traveler and those who had brought her to the Opera Epiclese, the Oratrice Mecanique d’Analyse Cardinale passes an unexpected judgment: “The Hydro Archon, guilty, to be punished via the death sentence,” a sentence that has never been handed out ever in the history of Fontaine. Both the Traveler and Neuvillette are quick to point out that the sentence is specified for “The Hydro Archon,” not necessarily Furina herself. During this confusion, Freminet appears, and Lyney remarks that he’s back from a mission set out by Arlecchino. Freminet managed to find a stone slate related to the ones that the Traveler and Neuvillette found in the ruins near Poisson. The slate, when combined with the ones from the ruins, give the truth of the prophecy: that the original Hydro Archon, Egeria, had used the Primordial Sea to create the people of Fontaine from Oceanids, elemental beings of water, explaining why only Fontainians would dissolve when exposed to Primordial Seaweater. However, this act was viewed as a sin against Celestia and the Heavenly Principles, which condemned both the Hydro Archon and the people of Fontaine by means of the prophecy. And unfortunately, the fact that the people had put Furina on trial had acted to carry out the prophecy, rather than avoid it like the people wanted.
🃏After the revelation of Furina not being an Archon and Fontainians not being real humans, the trial is interrupted as a giant, celestial narwhal breaks through and attempts to attack the people. Neuvillette reveals that this creature is an “all-consuming narwhal,” a being not from the world of Teyvat that had been feeding off the Primordial Seawater to gain power and in turn raising the sea levels in Fontiane and the destructive power of the Primordial Seawater. This, and the fact that Fontainians are made from Primordial Seawater, had attracted the narwhal to attack and thus is the cause of the disaster in the prophecy. After the narwhal is temporarily forced to retreat, the Oratrice begins to carry out its judgment of the death sentence. In doing so, two things happen simultaneously: the Traveler is able to connect with Furina’s memories and inner consciousness after coming in contact with Furina’s tears (since it was revealed in 4.1 that he has a sensitivity to the Hydro element), and Neuvillette is able to connect to the consciousness of Focalors, the true Hydro Archon who had been in hiding.
🃏Focalors reveals to Neuvillette that everything that had happened, from the prophecy to Furina’s current predicament, was a grand, elaborate ruse to deceive the Heavenly Principles themselves, and allow the prophecy to be fulfilled while simultaneously saving the people of Fontaine from destruction. Furina, who was created after Focalors separated her divinity from her body and spirit, was entrusted with the task of putting on a never-ending performance and making everyone believe that she was the Hydro Archon, all so that the Heavenly Principles would be fooled and that the prophecy would be fulfilled. Focalors also reveals another revelation: the Oratrice had been gathering massive amounts of Indemnitium, an energy source that Fontaine’s machines run off of, in the purpose of carrying out this death sentence against an Archon. Focalors’ intention was that, with her death, the very position of the Hydro Archon would be executed, removing the throne of Hydro Archon from the Seven Archons permanently and returning the Archon’s powers of Hydro to Neuvillette, who is secretly the Sovereign Dragon of Water; this is because the Archons’ powers originally were stolen from the Sovereign Dragons and converted into the Gnoses that the Archons possess. Focalors is executed, her powers are returned to Neuvillette, and Neuvillette, overcome by grief, forgives the people of Fontaine and declares them all innocent, using his newly restored power to erase their “original sin” and allow them to finally become true humans once and for all.
🃏Neuvillette and the Traveler pursue the all-consuming narwhal, and after a fierce battle, they defeat it along with the help of a woman named Skirk, who is Childe’s mentor and who has spend much of her time training in The Abyss. However, the battle had caused the seawaters of Fontaine to rise dramatically, flooding the nation and fulfilling the prophecy. However, because of Focalors’ Neuvillette pardoning their “original sin“, the people of Fontaine don’t end up dissolving and survive the incident. Lyney and his siblings are seen assisting with the rescue effort, diving down into the waters and bringing people up to the surface so they can be brought ashore or onto Wriothesley’s ship. Once the waters recede, peace is finally restored to Fontaine. At the end of the quest, Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are found at Romaritime Harbor handing out Magic Pockets to the people, hammerspace devices that function similar to a small Bag of Holding. Lyney reveals that Freminet wishes to make new friends and has agreed to assist more with their magic shows, specifically underwater escape tricks. Lyney also passes along Arlecchino’s gratitude to the Traveler, and also reveals that she and Neuvillette had come to an agreement wherein Neuvillette gave her Fontaine’s Gnosis as a diplomatic gift for the Fatui’s part in assisting Fontaine. Arlecchino then appears to confirm Lyney’s words, and the Traveler gives her Childe’s Vision, which he had been keeping safe. Arlecchino leaves, and Lyney and his siblings part ways with the Traveller.

Updated Personality: For the most part, Lyney’s personality remains unchanged. There will be a couple small, but notable changes however:
🃏After what occurred in the Fortress of Meropide, Lyney does still have a little bit of PTSD over nearly losing his siblings once again (which had triggered his former fears of what happened to Lynette in the past). He’s grateful for the Traveler’s help, but still kind of pissed at Wriothesley and still a bit protective of them because of it.
🃏Lyney now has the knowledge that Fontainians were originally Oceanids, and that Furina was never the true Hydro Archon. He’s still kind of processing this information.
🃏As per Arlecchino and the Traveler’s insistence, he is trying to reach out and rely on others for help more, as well as working on trying to trust others more. This is still a work in progress, however.
Any other updates: Lyney will have a couple Magic Pockets on him, as he had been handing them out to people in Fontaine so they could store their lost items if they found them in the sea. He’ll also be coming with a restock of Lumidouce Bells, Rainbow Roses, and an obnoxious amount of other miscellaneous magician’s props

Questions/Other: Thank you for taking the time to read this monstrosity I am so sorry for its length I tried my best to summarize only the most important parts, but this update was heckin beefy.

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] starshower 2024-04-02 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Player: Sheila
Character: Tifa Lockhart
Canon: Final Fantasy VII
Current Canon Point: End of Final Fantasy VII Remake
New Canon Point: Chapter 9 of Rebirth
Updated Background: "Quick" notes... well it's not as long as song's at least

SPOILERS FOR FFVII REBIRTH:
🌠 When the group arrives in Kalm, Cloud shares his account of what happened in Nibelheim five years ago, much to Tifa's confusion. He gives an accurate report of the Nibelheim incident, but as far as she is concerned, Cloud was not there. She opens up to Aerith about it but decides to approach Cloud about it as well. He claims that he thought her dead, and Tifa, thinking that he might be accusing her of not being real, shows him the scar that she sustained from Sephiroth as proof that she is telling the truth. The two of them get into a disagreement, leaving Tifa upset, and they end the conversation there, with her needing space.

🌠 They disembark from Kalm to continue following the black robed figures, and they lead them to Junon where they discover that they are all wanted fugitives. There, they meet Yuffie when she is attacked by a sea monster and rescue her. Later, she and Cloud make up at the inn, and Tifa makes another attempt to gauge his memories by talking about an old friend, Emilio. The next morning, the group is properly introduced to Yuffie, who explains to them that she was sent to assassinate Rufus Shinra, and the group heads to Upper Junon to join the parade and get close to the president.

🌠 Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith participate in the parade, disguising themselves as Shinra infantrymen, and they win the President's Commendation award for their performance. However, Rufus is aware that it is Avalanche beneath the helmets, and he calls them up and tries to strike a deal with them: he will leave them be if they promise to take down Sephiroth. Cloud agrees to his terms, but the deal is quickly ended when Yuffie makes her attempt on Rufus's life.

🌠 They make their escape on the ship to Costa Del Sol, where they participate in a Queen's Blood tournament (because that is totally what you do when you are fugitives on the run!). Later that night, the ship is attacked by fiends, some of them targeting the robed men and turning them into monsters. Sephiroth appears before them and they are forced to fight Jenova aboard the ship.

🌠 After arriving in Costa Del Sol, the group gets a bit of a breather. There, they find Johnny who now runs an inn, they get assaulted by mini games, and the girls get to wear cute bathing suits. Everything is fine and good until Hojo shows up to experiment, releasing more fiends on the beach to transform the robed men again.

🌠 After leaving Costa Del Sol, they head for Corel. There, Tifa meets with Doctor Sheiran, the doctor who had performed surgery on her after the Nibelheim incident and saved her life, to thank him. There, she learns that it was a Shinra helicopter that brought her in bruh they said it was Zangan in the book, PICK ONE, SQUARE

🌠 They have another brief respite at the Gold Saucer after leaving Corel, but it doesn't last long. After a shooting at the Saucer, they are forced to investigate, worried that the accused "man with a gun for an arm" that had shot Shinra troopers was Barret. They are taken to Corel Prison and held there while Cloud participates in the chocobo races to win, and once they are free, they go off to search for Barret and find him in an old junkyard where they kept Dyne.

🌠 Gongaga is their next stop to inspect the run-down reactor. Cloud, Barret, Red, and Cait Sith head there first, but Shinra is also there, with Scarlet heading the crew to fetch the materia/weapon that resides in the reactor. After hearing an explosion, Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie head to the reactor and make their way through the ruin and end up facing off against Scarlet in her Crimson Mare.

🌠 When Cloud is affected by Sephiroth in the reactor, Tifa tries to pull him out of it, and he accuses her again of being a fake produced by Jenova. Still under Sephiroth's spell, he pushes her off the platform and she falls into the pool of mako below, where she is swallowed up by one of the Weapons. While inside the Weapon, Tifa is taken through what appears to be the Lifestream. She sees the white and black whispers fighting one another, with the white ones protecting the Weapons.

🌠 It's there in the Lifestream where she relives some of her older, most precious memories. Particularly three important ones with Cloud: the day she wanted to find her mom on the other side of Mount Nibel with her friends when she was young, the promise atop the water tower, and when Cloud had tried to stop her from crossing the bridge to the mountain, with the latter being a memory that she had forgotten due to head trauma and losing her memory. It's only after she sees this memory play out in the Lifestream that she understands the truth of what happened that day. Cloud had tried to stop her, and when all of her friends left her to cross the bridge alone, he was the only one who stayed with her. When she awoke from her coma after the incident, the adults had told Tifa that Cloud had egged her on, and that it was his fault that she had fallen, and she hadn't thought to question it at the time, and any time she did ask, she would simply be coddled.

🌠 Sephiroth appears before her and the Weapons and attacks her, plunging his sword through it in an attempt to kill her and nearly drowning her. As she nearly dies, she sees people who are dear to her: Zangan, Doctor Sheiran, Aerith, and Barret all reminding her that she has something to live for, and that she has to continue to live. In the same vision, she sees Cloud walking away from her, and Sephiroth's voice telling her that she can't reach him anymore, and it's then that she floats into unconsciousness.

Updated Personality:

Putting under a cut because more spoilers:

While Tifa, at her core, has not changed all that much from the end of the Remake, she has gone through some developments. We see that she is trying to work through her insecurities throughout the course of Rebirth, which is a major stepping stone for her. She finally acknowledges that she tends to be a people pleaser, sometimes to her own detriment, tries to remember to thank people rather than apologize for what she considers being a burden, and attempts to be more open and forward about her feelings. She opens up to Aerith and Cloud several times throughout the game, such as confiding in Aerith about Cloud's mismatched memories.

With Cloud, she explains that she wants to try and do the right thing, tries to get people to stand up and fight, but feels as though she is always coming up short, and thus she needs to remember that she is trying, and to never stop trying. That particular conversation was very much triggered by her attempts to open up about her experiences with the Weapons in the Lifestream, but she was disheartened when no one seemed to understand her or want to listen.

She opens up about her realization that the anger that she had been holding onto for so many years was not going to last. She may have had her doubts and fears in the past about Avalanche's methods, but the more time that passed, she understood better why she made those decisions, and that they were the right ones. That she was right to feel angry and still is, because Shinra continues to lie and do cruel things, and someone needs to stand up and fight.

As the game nears its end, however, we see parts of her slowly chip away as she watches Cloud begin to deteriorate and fall further under Jenova and Sephiroth's thrall. While she is still determined to help him, it is clear that her worry is taking a bigger toll on her emotionally than she lets on. While this is not quite as relevant at the moment for Tifa, I just wanted to note it here because we do see glimpses of this from the very beginning.

Any other updates: New Limit Break, Meteor Strikes, a several hit combo wombo with the force of a falling star.

Questions/Other: She'll be disappearing from April 1st-3rd. Smooches whichever soul has to read this.

Canon Update

[personal profile] cursedwords 2024-04-19 04:34 am (UTC)(link)

Player: Nat
Character: Toge Inumaki
Canon: Jujutsu Kaisen
Current Canon Point: Pre-Shibuya
New Canon Point: After Shibuya, technically November 1st in his world! (Idk, end of season 2 in the anime, chapter 137 in the manga)
Updated Background: Toge has won an all expenses paid trip to Shibuya. He gets to take in the sights of the Halloween revelers having a not-so-great time trapped in a veil and being tormented by deformed humans that he subsequently has to kill. His job is to protect all the civilians, destroy the abominations and keep everyone calm. Toge does a great job, until Sukuna activates his domain with Toge right in the middle of it. All of those he was protecting vanish in that instance. He's frankly lucky to be walking away.

The most jarring change is the fact that his left arm is nearly entirely amputated, and he's left with many scars and gashes, deep in his shoulder and lighter ones along his side, abdomen and back. He likely has a few other deep ones on his chest and back hidden by some bandages.

Updated Personality: Toge is facing his mortality like he hasn't before. He's tired, he's worn out, he's also seen a lot of innocent people die under his watch. It will take time to bounce back from all of that.

Any other updates: No new skills, only free trauma.

Questions/Other: He'll be leaving at the end of April, returning beginning of May.

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2024-06-01 03:35 am (UTC)(link)

Player: CS
Character: Lyney
Canon: Genshin Impact
Current Canon Point: Version 4.2 Update (Post Archon Quest Chapter IV: Act V - Masquerade of the Guilty)
New Canon Point: Version 4.6 Update (Post Arlecchino Story Quest)
Updated Background: Ok so this one shouldn't be as long as last time but I'm still splitting it into parts so it's broken up a little:

4.4 Important Info:
🃏 Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are granted some vacation time by Arlecchino after everything that occurred during and after the Fontaine Prophecy came to pass. They take a trip to Liyue to take part in the Lantern Rite festival, taking in the culture, sights, and food along the way. They stop off at Wangshu Inn on their way back, meeting the Traveller and Paimon. After getting caught up, the Traveller serves them a Liyue-style meal for them to enjoy. It's also during this update we learn that Freminet has the best spice tolerance of the three; Lyney's is ok, and Lynette's is the worst.

4.5 Important Info:
🃏 Lyney and Lynette are asked to assist Chiori with her upcoming Fashion Week show, which they agree to do as repayment for Chiori's kindness. Chiori is a well-known fashion designer in Fontaine who had not only made many of their performance outfits but also sponsored one of their shows, and after hearing that she was being slandered in public tabloids by a rival designer they agree to help. They assist at the venue, and Lyney helps model an exclusive outfit for Chiori. After the performance, Chiori thanks them for their help and allows them to call upon her for any clothing-related requests they may need.

4.6 Important Info:

Cut for Arlecchino story spoilers
🃏 The Traveller and Paimon travel to the village of Poisson, where they come across Lyney. After greeting each other, Lyney tells them that the House of the Hearth are stationed in Poisson for the time being. Though hesitant to give details, Arlecchino herself appears and agrees to divulge some information, since the Traveller has worked with Lyney and the others in the past. She tells the Traveller that the House of the Hearth are in Poisson while she investigates rumours of a "phantom child" in the House. She then leaves the Traveller and Paimon, and Lyney takes them along to help with his own tasks and to see how the House operates.
🃏 After giving out supplies and introducing the Traveller and Paimon to a few of the other House of the Hearth children, they come across Freminet, who seems to be acting suspicious. After some prodding, Freminet takes them to a mysterious girl named Clervie, who he has been hiding the existence of. Lyney deduces that this is the "phantom child" that Arlecchino has been looking for and presses Freminet on why he hid her from them, but Freminet insists she's not dangerous and wants to investigate her. Though hesitant, Lyney agrees to help, insisting they keep it between them. Lynette drops in as well, demanding to be let in on the investigation under threat of telling Arlecchino, to which they all agree.
🃏 The group begin their investigation on Clervie. They determine that she isn't actually a "child," but a ghost of some sort. She has a strong connection to the House of the Hearth, though constantly warns others of how none can ever leave the House once they are a part of it. Figuring she will vanish if she completes any lingering wishes, they ask Clervie what her wish is, which she says is to go out where the sun can shine on her. Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet decide to do what they can to get Clervie into the sun, while asking the Traveller to talk with and distract Arlecchino. Lyney hands the Traveller a messenger bird to release in case things don't work out before they go.
🃏 Though they try to bring her into the sunlight, Lyney and the others are unsuccessful in their attempts to honour Clervie's wish. During their investigation, Lyney mentions that the other children have been anxious lately. He figures some of it is due to Clervie's warnings, and others are about something called Project Stuzha, an upcoming project from Harbingers Pulcinella and Pantalone that would put the House members in danger. Lyney deduces that solving the Clervie problem would put things back to normal, and allow them all to deal with the Project Stuzha issue later.
🃏 The Traveller spend another day with Arlecchino, who later admits that she is fully aware of Lyney and the others's activities. She tells the Traveller that betrayal is not tolerated, and that the punishment is death. She agrees to turn a blind eye for the time being, and if they were successful in removing Clervie, she would not punish them, though she does intend to do so if they fail. She also returns the messenger bird they had released earlier to them, further proof that she was well aware of their role.
🃏 The Traveller and Paimon meet Arlecchino at some ruins in Mont Esus East, where Arlecchino reveals to them pieces of their past, including that Clervie was once a child of the House that she had befriended, but later had to kill in a duel set by the previous director of the House, someone who Arlecchino also killed. After this revelation, Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, and several other House members arrive, and Arlecchino accuses them of being "traitors" for trying to betray the House. She states that the members who had stated explicit wishes to leave bring risk to the intelligence that the House had gathered being exposed, and would be deemed as a betrayal. For Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, by not telling her about Clervie or solving the issue, their betrayal would not result in death, but another punishment. She steps forward to administer the punishment, but Lyney and the others beg her to stop, saying she will tear the House apart by doing so. Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, and the Traveller all team up to challenge Arlecchino to a duel, but are overpowered despite their best efforts. Arlecchino prepares a final attack, but holds back at the last minute, declaring them not powerful enough to defeat her. Still, she recognizes their resolve, and agrees to amend the rules; she offers the others the chance to leave if they could survive consuming a potion made from her searing flames, which would target their memories and burn away that which they had known and learned while in service to the House. This would effectively "kill" the House version of them and allow them to live normal lives. The accused children agree to take the potion, while Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are given time to ponder their own decisions.
🃏 Lyney returns after Arlecchino helps Clervie pass on, and announces that the other children have taken the potion. As for Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, they all agreed to refuse to take the potion and stay as members of the House. He asks Arlecchino why she had chosen him as her successor, to which she tells him that despite his lack of strength, his conviction and desire to protect his family was strong. In her words, "you're brave, talented... And most importantly, you cherish your family." She sees that conviction, even in spite of a lack of physical strength, the main reason why she chose him to succeed her. Lyney is humbled and honoured by these words, and thanks her. Arlecchino also admits that with the last few members with wavering conviction are gone, the House is strong enough to face Project Shuzha head on when the time comes. Details about just what Project Stuzha is are unknown at this time.

Updated Personality: Lyney's personality is mostly unchanged, though after his confrontation with Arlecchino, he is more humbled and honoured by her admission of why she chose him to succeed her. He is now more focused on repaying her kindness, and his resolve and conviction are renewed.
Any other updates: If possible, I'd like for him to come back with the outfit Chiori made for him, tucked away in one of his Magic Pockets.

Questions/Other: Thank you once again for reading this chunky update. I don't have a fancy gif but here's a video of the fight between Lyney and co. vs Arlecchino

Canon Update

[personal profile] scooba 2024-06-27 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)

Player: Mio
Character: Freminet
Canon: Genshin Impact
Current Canon Point: Archon Quest 4.2
New Canon Point: 4.6 Update - Post Arlecchino Story Quest
Updated Background: To be honest? Not much given that Freminet doesn't play that big of a role compared to his siblings. He decided to go to Liyue for vacation after the events with the Archon Quest. Turns out Freminet had handle spicy food compared to Lyney and Lynette.

With Arlecchino's story quest, Freminet decided to hide Clervie. She is an old childhood friend of Arlecchino but she has now taken the form of a ghost. Especially when she is in the form of a child as well. Considering that he believed Clervie meant no real harm to the House, he went against his Father's wishes and hide her. However, in the process, he also realized that Lyney considers him his brother despite not being related. With those words, it made Freminet realize just how close both he had with both Lyney and Lynette.

Toward the end of the quest, Arlecchino found out what happened. The three siblings along with a couple of others were accused of betraying the House. Arlecchino was set to kill the others. In response, Lyney decided to fight her along with his two other siblings. While they lost, it turns out that Arlecchino was planning on using bottled flames to erase their memories. Freminet was also given a choice to have his memory erased and start a new life. However, he refused and wanted to stay.

Updated Personality: Not much. Freminet hasn't changed outside of being a little more confident in his relationship with Lyney and Lynette. He also more confident in his abilities and deciding what he wants.

Any other updates: Not really? Turns out Freminet is strong enough to block one of Arlechhino's attacks. Boy is stronk.

Questions/Other: Compared to CS's huge summaries, I suck at them.

Player: Ser

Character: G'raha Tia
Canon: FFXIV
Current Canon Point: 6.2??? I think???
New Canon Point: 7.0

Updated Background:
💎 G'raha and the Warrior of Light discover the truth behind The Twelve. They are fragments of individuals that had originally gathered together to summon Hydaelyn in the first place. Similar to Primals, they had changed over time due to the prayers of all those devoted to them. Their purpose had been to help stabilize the Source. However, they are no longer needed with the Endsinger gone. The entire reason they had fought the Warrior of Light had been to return to the star. And so they do, though one stays behind to live out a mortal life - exploring and wandering.

💎 He had been consulted on opening a voidgate and traveling through the rift so that the Warrior of Light and several other Scions could travel to the Thirteenth. There, though G'raha hadn't been present, the Scions confronted Golbez, defeated Zeromus, and even brought both dragons home safely. G'raha's knowledge on the subject had contributed greatly to the success of this.

💎 After all is said and done, Krile had been wondering about this letter from Tural to her ( their ) grandfather. She had been tired of being left out so when Wuk Lamat comes and joins them for a little monster hunting excursion, G'raha also comes to a decision. Krile should be free to go with the Warrior of Light to Tural. While G'raha also yearns for adventure, he understands the importance this holds for Krile and will stay behind to ensure that the Students continue to take on jobs and the like. Someone has to hold down the fort, so to speak. This time it will be G'raha so that Krile can find her answers. Thus does he say goodbye to them all as they depart for the rite of succession in Tural - Wuk Lamat being a contender and looking for allies in Sharlayan.

💎 G'raha does not make an appearance again until about midway through the story. Out of nowhere a dome had appeared in Xak Tural, along with a strange looking fleet. An assault transpires within the capital of Tural, Tuliyollal. There, the former Dawnservant had been felled by his own kin, Zorall Ja, through the use of some odd technology. Zoraal Ja had given Wuk Lamat and Koana an ultimatum. Krile thinks to summon more allies and since this strange occurrence is right up the Student's alley? Of course that is the perfect excuse for G'raha to appear to render his services.

💎 And so he does - in order to break through the dome, the group travels to the train station in Shaaloani. They decide that the best way to break through to the dome is to, essentially, build a train that would serve as a bomb. While they are discussing the ways in which to protect the train so that it can reach its destination, G'raha offers to draw up some schematics for mounted cannons. Given that the Crystarium on the First had similar ones, G'raha had been confident that they could serve a purpose here as well. For some time, everyone works on the train.

💎 Breaking into Vanguard, the complex at the front of the dome, isn't easy. While on the train, the Scions have to fight off quite a few enemies. Alisaie would have fallen off of the moving train, if not for G'raha catching her. The canons work quite well, and G'raha continues to use his magicks to defend the train until they abandon it so it can blow up. There the Scions infiltrate Vanguard, defeating enemies to push through into Xak Tural proper. Along the way, they discover that some seem to be able to almost transform their bodies. A strange phenomenon, just like apparently coming back from the dead...

💎 Once they have set foot into Xak Tural... The land is changed in such a way that even Erenville, a local, cannot recognize it. Lightning strikes the ground and aspected aether seems to choke the area. Traveling around seems to put the entire group at a loss - for the buildings look like they have been abandoned for quite some time. They should have only have been a couple of days.

💎 Eventually several things are discovered here. One, the little devices on the side of everyone's head seems to have a number of "scrubbed" souls within. A method had been devices to cleanse souls of memories - leaving souls as almost a currency. Once someone dies, their soul is simply replaced by another soul stored in the device. Secondly, time had been accelerated within the dome. The reason for this is because, well, this portion of land is not originally from the Source, but an unknown shard. Just like how time passed more quickly on the First, it had taken almost 30 years within the dome for it to sync with the rest of the Source. Third, Zoraal Ja is the King of Resolve and a woman named Sphene is the Queen of Reason. She and her people had suddenly appeared here one day. They, known as Alexandrians, had taken in the people of Tural and they had to learn to thrive together. Finally, when someone dies for "good," the memories are taken and stored on the "cloud."

💎 Eventually they come across Erenville's mother, who had been working with others to try to overthrow Zoraal Ja. She is using a strange body and had said that she is working it remotely. From there they make their way into Everkeep, where the majority of Alexandrians reside. There is a tour and everyone takes in the sights and tries to understand the people of Alexandria. They had suffered a calamity of their own, discovering a substance called Electrope that could convert different forms of aether into energy. Eventually, different countries would compete for this resource, leaving the land a barren levinscape that the group is now familiar with. The soul storage device had been implemented since Queen Sphene couldn't bear losing people if it could be avoided.

💎 They learn much and more about the Alexandrians, right until they see a small child running around. Through chasing down this child to even outside Everkeep, they discover that it is Zoraal Ja's son. They also see firsthand the old Alexandria sinking into the ocean and the destruction left behind. After another confrontation with Zoraal Ja, it is time to attack. The Scions find themselves at the top floor of Everkeep, fighting Zoraal Ja until he transforms. After felling him, it isn't the end. Sphene has other plans. See, they need souls and aether to sustain the Endless - those that have been uploaded into the cloud. The entire reason she had agreed to work with Zoraal Ja had been so that she can take the souls and aether of Tural so that she, as an Endless, and others can continue to "live." From there, she takes a device that had served as a key to the gate between worlds, and flees.

💎 Our heroes are not without their own means. Krile's earring that had been left to her by her true parents ( Alexandrians at that! ), has a code that could open another gate. Along with Gulool Ja and the Scions, they travel to the entrance to the "City of Gold" and are able to activate the gate. Within they find what is essentially a playground for the departed. Memories with some aether breathed into them are given form here and people continue to "live out their days" after death. There the group confirms that Erenville's mother is, in fact, an Endless. She requests that the group travels to each Memory Terminal and shut it down. When they do, all of the memories within will be lost.

💎 One by one, the group explores each area around each terminal. They learn of the people there and their hopes and dreams. G'raha admits that he would have been tempted by this technology, had he had it on the First. They even discover Krile's parents are there. It is a bittersweet reunion... And G'raha helps to break the ice by grabbing ice cream and biting into it. Though it has no taste, he acts as a means to break the tension between the family. They also learn that Krile's people originated from the Source, using the key to flee in the wake of a calamity and thus had they found themselves within Alexandria. Where the key originates? No one knows.

💎 Once all of the terminals are shut down, the bright and vivid world seems to be nothing more than an illusion. Finally, it is time to confront Sphene, who is all but deleting herself so that she can function as a means to syphon all of the aether and souls of Tural. The group digitizes themselves, meandering through her memories until they reach Sphene herself. She removes all but the Warrior of Light from the battle, Wuk Lamat swooping in at the last moment before Sphene's defeat.

💎 Now that all is said and done... What is to be done with the Alexandrians?

Updated Personality: N/A. G'raha is still pretty much the same. This expansion is not about him and his character so all of his growth had been done in Shadowbringers and Endwalker.

Any other updates: N/A. He is still an All Rounder with an appreciation for food.

Questions/Other: The background update is not super duper detailed. Just wanted to run through some of the more major events?

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2024-08-23 04:06 am (UTC)(link)

Player: Clover
Character: Kaveh
Canon: Genshin Impact
Current Canon Point: Patch 3.8
New Canon Point: Patch 4.8
Updated Background: --Involved tangentially in the events of Cyno's second story quest, helping research the Temple of Silence after recognizing the sigil and providing information to the Traveler and Tighnari.
--Disgustingly and routinely domestic with "roommate".
--Caused a huge problem by drunkenly annotating a book and staring a ton of rumors as to the nature of the annotations.
--Aware, tangentially, of the events of the Fontaine Archon Quest; only in the sense that the Flood was visible from other places and he has family in Fontaine so he tracked down publicly known information.

Updated Personality: Two changes of note; as above, Kaveh is tangentially aware of the events of Fontaine's archon quest in the vaguest light, as these events were published in the Steambird and Kaveh has family in Fontaine to contact about the giant wall of water.

He is also canonically on much better terms with Alhaitham, noted by other characters that they are always together, and shown peacefully and happily engaging in gossip. Kaveh is also more relaxed about admitting he lives with Alhaitham, though he still does not want the information publicly broadcasted for the sake of his career.

Any other updates: Not new abilities but abilities revealed that he presumably already had:
--> Kaveh has a photographic memory and can perfectly replicate a design he saw briefly on a piece of paper from memory, twenty-four hours later.
--> Mehrak's range is implied to be long enough that she can traverse a city on her own.
--> Her intelligence is implied to be advanced enough she can place and carry out an order for coffee if given written instructions to hand over.

New items: Because I believe in causing pain, Kaveh will have an annotated copy of Reasoning Knows Not Time of Day, but Suspense Always Follows a Blizzard, that has names in it circled in multiple different colors of ink. Notably, the first name, circled in red ink, is the true identity of the murderer. He will also have his glider.

CANON UPDATE

Player: taso
Character: Alhaitham
Canon: Genshin Impact
Current Canon Point: Patch 3.8
New Canon Point: Patch 4.8
Updated Background:
  • Involved tangentially in the events of Cyno's second story quest, helping research the Temple of Silence after recognizing the sigil that Kaveh drew from memory and subsequently providing information to the Traveler and Tighnari.
  • Disgustingly and routinely domestic with "roommate".
  • Caused even more chaos by annotating over a book that Kaveh already made notes on and causing all of Sumeru to believe in the wackiest conspiracy theory.
  • Is aware of the events of the Fontaine Archon quest that was publicized by the Steambird, with other scraps of information gleaned from Kaveh's family.

  • Updated Personality: As stated above, Alhaitham is aware of whatever is publicized by the Steambird as well as whatever the general public in Fontaine knows of in terms of the Fontaine Archon Quest; he knows the general outcome (The Flood and the fact that the Hydro Archon stepped down) but not the true specifics of it. More importantly and of relevance to him, he will know that the House of the Hearth (along with the Spina di Rosula) has provided aid to Fontaine in their time of need.

He is also canonically on much better terms with Kaveh, noted by other characters that they are always together, and shown peacefully and happily engaging in gossip.

Any other updates: Nothing much aside from the confirmation that he "familiarized himself with the documentation in his office" during his time as Acting Grand Sage (AKA, he knows precisely all of the shady ass stuff Azar and his cronies did piror to Nahida taking back control of Sumeru).

New items: Because its funny Alhaitham will return with a copy of Pretty Please, Kitsune Guuji? with him, along with his glider.

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] fullgauntlet 2024-11-04 01:08 am (UTC)(link)

    Player: Mich
    Character: Izuku Midoriya
    Canon: My Hero Academia
Current Canon Point: My Hero Academia, taken from post manga chapter 327
New Canon Point: My Hero Academia, taken from post manga chapter 413

    Updated Background:

🍀 We last left Izuku after his troublesome return to U.A High School after his classmates worked hard to convince him to stop trying to take on his burdens alone. After a big fight and a very important apology from Katsuki Bakugou for treating him badly over the years, Izuku returns to the school to heal and to make plans with everyone on how they'll defeat the League of Villains. And war is on the horizon.

🍀 Izuku has little to no time to be able to master the rest of his inherited quirks. All For One is rapidly finishing making Shigaraki into his ultimate vessel.

🍀 Shigaraki/League of Villains attacks and several heroes try to stall the fight so Izuku and friends have time to make a plan and for Izuku to have enough time to complete One For All. The hero Star and Stripe stops Shigaraki's attacks for now.

🍀 Izuku goes through training. The U.A High School traitor is revealed. And Izuku is outed as technically Quirkless to the rest of his class. They still accept that he can still be a hero.

🍀 Izuku obtains new hero gear. Including the modified Full Gauntlet! (That's the journal name!!)

🍀 Preparations continue to make a plan to stop Shigaraki. With the help of U.A High School's former betrayer, they get inside intel on the League of Villains.

🍀 The pivotal war beings, several student and pro heroes go up again the hordes of villains. Izuku perfects Danger Sense but also gets caught up helping others.

🍀 Several heroes (including Katsuki Bakugou) go up against Shigaraki to slow him down, while Izuku is preoccupied with other fights.

🍀 Katsuki Bakugou goes up against Shigaraki after others falls. While still trying to buy Izuku time to arrive, Katsuki suffers extreme damage and is assumed dead.

🍀 When Izuku finally arrives, it witnesses all the damage and Katsuki's body. He nearly loses control of himself, all his quirks exploding. It is only hero Lemillion that is able to convince Izuku that Katsuki is going to be alright.

🍀 Izuku calms his power enough to get into control and battle with Shigaraki commences. Izuku masters Gear Shift.

🍀 The world witnesses Izuku's strength and lengths he goes to protect everyone. All Might and Edgeshot save Katsuki. Several heroes are able to support Izuku. The fight starts going in the hero's tide. Izuku masters Fa Jin.

🍀 During the fight Izuku lands on Mount Fuji. He's tired, weak and losing power and stamina. Even with the power of all his quirks, he's getting tired. But he hears the voice of All Might, "You Can Be A Hero." That's where we leave Izuku for now.

    Updated Personality:

🍀 Personality mostly unchanged besides becoming a little more jaded and serious. Also learning what really makes villains tick and why they do the things they do. Learning more humanity in the fact that people take wrong directions sometimes. It doesn't always mean they're entirely unredeemable. He wants to understand villains better.

🍀 Probably has accepted how feral and crazy he gets when he's at full power. And how losing his friends can be a real, serious weakness. His heart is a weakness.

    Any other updates:

🍀 Danger Sense: Formerly residing in One For All, this Quirk allowed Izuku to detect threats in the surrounding area.
🍀 Gear Shift: This Quirk allows Izuku to change the speed and/or velocity of any target he touches, including himself. This allows him to greatly accelerate his own speed and/or the velocity of his target, and enhance the impact force of his own strikes.
🍀 Fa Jin: This Quirk allows Izuku to build up and store kinetic energy by performing repetitive movement. He can later release this stored energy as an explosive burst of speed and power.

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] nutsornothing 2024-11-28 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
    Player: Jarret
    Character: Denji
    Canon: Chainsaw Man
Current Canon Point: Chapter 80; After Aki's death and the subsequent inheritance of his will but before Denji's run-in with Makima on the park bench and going back to her place to meet her dogs.
New Canon Point: Chapter 171; Immediately after seeing Nayuta's severed head but before turning into Black Chainsaw Man again.

    Updated Backstory:
    CONTROL DEVIL ARC:

Shortly after the canon point I have taken Denji the boy is faced with a waking nightmare, Makima killing Power in front of his very eyes as she reveals everything which had bestowed to make him happier was all just a farce to break his will to live, taking everything he ever dreamed of away in the blink of an eye. Toping it all off Makima awakens his mind to the harsh realities about his father which he'd locked away behind closed doors in the depths of his mind about the death of his father. He was the one to kill the man after the other got severely drunk and attacked him. In a kill or be killed situation the boy had but little choice to take his dad's life but the murder was covered up by the Yakuza so they could instill the debt owed by his parents unto him.

A battle of unparalleled proportions ensues between Denji who transforms into the Hero of Hell, also known as 'Black Chainsaw Man', a deranged version of his Chainsaw Devil form capable of newfound abilities such as serrated chain lengths and four chainsaw armed limbs against an onslaught of Makima's controlled devils and hunters alike. One by one he slays them all until finally he confronts her, dispatching the Control devil once and for all after distracting her with a decoyed copy of himself thanks in due part to the final remnants of blood received by Power earlier in the series when she offered it up to save him. With the job finally done there was only one way he possibly knew how to truly defeat Makima and that was devouring her essence in full by finally 'becoming one' with her. (He eats her)

    JUSTICE DEVIL ARC:

Denji strikes out on his own as he enrolls in high school while looking after the newly created control devil, Nayuta, who is basically plopped on him by his old master Kishibe. This is when he first meets Asa Mitaka who made a contract with the war devil who refers to themselves as Yoru. Since he's been on his own Denji has become desperate for people to uncover his identity as Chainsaw man all in the name of getting a girlfriend, revealing his ultimate secret to Asa who ultimately doesn't believe him at first.

    DATING DENJI ARC:

In the aftermath of the chaos that occurred at Fourth East school, Asa decides to target Denji as the person they would kill to create a powerful weapon being able to defeat Chainsaw Man. Asking him out on a date to lower his inhibitions and gain his affections the pair go to the aquarium where she is approached by a mysterious hunter who reveals themselves out to be the Famine Devil. Immediately telling Asa that she and Denji would be trapped until inside the building until she turns him into a weapon. Upon realization they were trapped Denji thinks they are being held captive by a devil from his past the Eternity Devil.

Time passes by with the pair being trapped within the confines of the aquarium along with some others who were unlucky as well such as Yoshida, a Public Safety Devil Hunter who's intervened on multiple occasions to prevent Denji from revealing his true identity as Chainsaw Man. The other asks him if it came down to it could he possibly eat the Death Devil if he had no option of escaping this place to which he easily agrees. Finding Asa again they spend some time together before she comes up with a plan of escape herself, collecting the random money throughout the place to 'buy' it, creating a powerful spear that defeats the Eternity Devil in one attack.

After their removal Denji walks Asa home saying he enjoyed their date together to which Yoru takes over Asa's body trying to immediately turn him into a weapon called the 'Denji Spinal Cord Sword' slapping a hand to his forehead. The attempt fails which prompts a laugh from the boy, proposing another date the following day to which she agrees. Going to his apartment to watch movies he warns Asa about his house rules, one of which being no making out with him since he shares the place with his little sister Nayuta, the new Control Devil who is put in his care by Kishibe after Makima's death. Yoru ignores the rules and kisses him only to have Nayuta make her act like a dog causing him to beg her to change the girl back to normalcy. She agrees but only on the condition that he stops hanging out with her to which he reluctantly agrees, altering Asa's memories to think Denji stood her up on the second date.

    FALLING DEVIL ARC:

The Falling Devil reveals itself to the masses as it hunts down Asa Mitaka after being charged to bring her to Hell, Chainsaw man intervenes to protect his 'ex-potential girlfriend' as he calls her. As the Falling Devil tries to pull Asa over the brink and descend their mind into darkness causing them to 'fall', Denji looks to aid her in this time of peril by helping her think happy thoughts to negate the enemy Devil's abilities. With Asa's assistance Denji is able to evade their newfound enemy leading them to safety, marking the second time Chainsaw Man has saved her.

    CHURCH OF CHAINSAW MAN ARC:

At the beginning of this arc Denji is captured by Yoshida after this newfound 'Chainsaw Man Church' has built a huge following and threatening Japan's national security with uprising against the government and Public Safety Devil Hunters. He is told to never transform into his devil counterpart again or his sister Nayuta and pets will all be killed in retaliation. Soon after this Asa is approached by the Famine Devil (Fami) to become a member of the Church, quickly racking up a following with people believing her to be the true protagonist of the people, taking credit for all of Chainsaw Man's devil kills in the past.

While this is happening Denji is approached by the Sword Devil who recruits him into the Chainsaw Man Church himself after coming to terms with his existence, tired of being used as a tool for other people's use. Unfortunately it was all a farce to lower his guard into turning into the devil inside him once more in a bid for Public Safety to make good on their promise, killing everything that he holds dear and ruining his 'normal life' he's achieved in the process. What he didn't know until it was too late that it was all a ploy to instill fear in the masses for both the real Chainsaw Devil and War Devil both so their powers might grow to oppose the Prophecy of Nosferatu; A reckoning that will come in July 1999 that is said to be followed by the extinction of humankind and Devils taking over the world.

In the chaos of the Chainsaw Man Church killing the masses, Denji and Nayuta are saved by Quanxi and Fumiko, two Devil Hunters who are acting on the orders of their superiors to make sure he doesn't transform anymore. Unfortunately; Nayuta does not agree with Fumiko's methods and tries to kill her to which Denji thankfully averts her death by persuading his sister to back down. Rushing back to their shared apartment they are met by the weapon devils of the Chainsaw Man Church, one of which burns down their home with all their pets inside. Going into a rage induced episode the boy transforms back into the devil at long last to murder all the weapon devils to save him and Nayuta from death in turn. Humans and Devil Hunters alike try to kill the pair of them as they fight them off but things quickly take a turn for the worse when Yumiko leaves them for dead as he suffers critical damage, his sister Nayuta pleading for the others aid after losing their family of pets but did little to instill pity on them. Using the Control Devil abilities to aid him, Nayuta assists Denji who is taken away by the Sword Devil to safety but leaving his sister alone to fend off the humans who looked to kill them. Dreaming of his beloved sister it quickly turns into a sweat induced nightmare before waking up in an unknown hospital bed after narrowly evading death once more.

    CURRENT ARC:

After being 'saved' by the Sword Devil, Denji is brought to their underground hideout, dismembered into bits and pieces to stop his regeneration. Thankfully Asa/Yoru and Fami infiltrate their base, the former returning the boy to life by piecing him back together and yanking his chainsaw heart to mend his broken body. Escaping with Asa and Fami along with some of the other weaponized Devils, Denji asks where Nayuta is but met with silence, most believing her to be dead if he cannot find her now.

After coming to in Fami's hideout Denji proclaims his need for food his newfound 'friends' taking him out for sushi in a bid to sate his hunger. Along the way the Samurai Devil proclaims what he really needs to do is have sex to which Denji obviously agrees thinking with his dick more than his brains though quickly comes to realize that is always the problem with him and having a mental breakdown wishing he could think rationally for a change without things always coming back to his sexual fantasies. In a bid to relieve him of this burden, Yoru takes him into a back alley to remove his manhood, sticking her hand down his pants but in the process remembers the pair had kissed, turning into an impromptu make out session which causes Denji to experience his first climax from another person.

Caught in a haze of confusion after his first sexual experience, Denji and the gang finally end up at the sushi restaurant in question. It is there Barem, the second in command of the Chainsaw Devil Church is there to greet them. About to lash out against the man, Barem promises to bring Denji to Nayuta if he assists him. After shoving sushi into his mouth as per the agreement first, Barem makes good on his agreement though it was not what the boy was expecting. The conveyer belt of sushi comes down the line to reveal Nayuta's severed head served up on a platter sending him into an unbridled rage promptly killing the other.

    Updated Personality:
Needless to say a lot of things have happened since the canon point in which I have taken him but despite everything Denji is more or less still the unhinged teenager who craves sexual attention up until just recently. The biggest take away is his firm belief to never become a pawn in anyone's game ever again, especially for any woman who tries to seduce him in hopes of claiming his heart for their own nefarious means. His odd relationship with Asa Mitaka is the closest thing he's had to a 'normal' relationship even her other half, Yoru the War Devil wishes to kill him.

Given the amount of suffering he's recently incurred with the loss of his family pets and Nayuta both, Denji's state of mind has become unstable at best, falling into a pit of despair and rage at the sight of his sister's decapitated head from the canon point in which I am taking him now. He will be a lot more somber by comparison to his former happy go lucky self at first upon returning to Escordvi's shores, emotionally compromised by the consecutive losses incurred in recent memory. He will likely look to keep his distance from most people only seeking out those he truly trusts here as they help him see the brighter side of things again. Despite this he is never one to dwell on the past for long, usually shoving it into the depths of his mind and suppressing his bad memories whenever possible unless something triggers them. Eventually he will return to his idiotic self but it will take some time for him to heal, mending the fresh wounds instilled by the loss of his family and best friend Power after being killed by Makima in the Control Devil arc sometime ago.

Any other updates: Under immense emotional distress Denji is now able to transform into an even more powerful version of the Chainsaw Devil which has been dubbed 'Black Chainsaw Man', Pochita's true form which all devils fear. The Black Chainsaw Man possesses a unique ability that sets it apart from Denji’s hybrid form. This version can erase the names of the devils it consumes, removing the existence of these devils from the collective memory of humanity as a whole. Notably, Denji, as the Red Chainsaw Man, does not have this ability, which is a key distinction between his form and Pochita’s original, more destructive nature. The Black Chainsaw Man's speed and destructive abilities far excel the power of Denji's original devil form. It's highly unlikely this form will ever be activated unless he is subject to emotional turmoil which rivals the loss of his best friend Power or his sister Nayuta which triggered the transformation of this oppressive form.

Questions/Other: It's a HUGE canon update he's been through A LOT of shit so cut him some slack people he needs hugs and lots of good food to distract him from his depressive suffering.

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] laminitis 2024-12-16 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)

    Player: ghost
    Character: blitzø
    Canon: helluva boss
Current Canon Point: following the antarctica short
New Canon Point: following the episode mastermind (aired 11/29)
Updated Background: Update includes two shorts, both of which are pretty run of the mill IMP mission shenanigans, and two episodes which are both A Lot.

Shorts Weeaboo-boo and Chupacabras cover IMP missions involving a monsterfucker weeb whom Blitzø stabs to death and she enjoys it far more than he does, and Blitzø being designated a Chupacabra by an entire farm in Mexico. Oh yeah and he turns a goat into a cult leader on accident? Oops.

Ghostfuckers proves how poorly Blitzø was coping with the two episodes preceding it, being that he was literally holed up in his office watching shitty TV and eating his feelings in the form of ice cream and squeeze cheese (disgusting), and pissing away all his and his business' money on emotional frivolities like taxidermy owls he insisted his daughter burn. He then goes what he designates as ghostfucking, based on his shitty TV show, to a "haunted" hotel on Earth with Millie and relives some of the worst moments of his life thanks to what is called an Infestor Demon named Rolando. He comes out of it better than he went in, Millie being the voice of reason and forcibly reminding him of the good he's done for her and that he's her best friend.

Mastermind is even more A Lot, in that IMP is taken to court for the illegal use of Stolas' grimoire and sentenced to death! Blitzø reasons with Satan enough to spare his employees, but is fully prepared to have his head lobbed off, only for Stolas to show up and sing about it like the ridiculous theatre kid he was meant to be. In claiming the responsibility for the illegal use of his Goetia-given grimoire, Stolas is banished for 100 years, stripped of his title and magic, and forced to live among the common demons. ...all for a shitty little red guy he doesn't even know gives far too many shits about him. Blitzø takes him back to his apartment with him, so now all the couch fanfics are canon which is an absolutely insane sentence to type.
Updated Personality: [CW for parental abuse mention in this section!] Most paramount is that Blitzø has experienced an insane amount of emotions. Through it he's learned a lot about himself and the people he holds dear, and has maybe come out of it with a little more emotional intelligence.

The shorts Weeaboo-boo and Chupacabras were mostly just silly, but also showed he has figured out how to work the Asmodean crystal with fairly dependable proficiency.

Ghostfuckers taught him that he's actually done a fair amount of fucking good for the people in his life, Millie forcibly reminding him of how they met and the improvements to her life since she met him and started working for him. ...Possibly also gave him high blood pressure (Carolina Reaper ice cream and spray cheese..., my dude pls). It force-fed him several memories he's likely never completely stopped thinking about, but visually reliving what is very likely how his mother died when he was a teenager probably fucked him up pretty good given he had a whole fucking catastrophic meltdown about it and ruined his mascara. A movie montage of other instances in his life he's felt he did wrong by others also proved that his father was physically abusive in enough of a way that makes him physically recoil from seeing it again, and that dude really needs to learn how to ask for a fucking hug.

Mastermind showed that he's willing to literally lay his life on the line for his employees, and also involved his first verbal confirmation of loving them (proving that he does, even if we been knew due to his actions up until this point). It also proved that he's a very fake idgafer and cares a lot more than he was previously willing to admit even to himself about Stolas, specifically. No verbal statements were made in this case, but the use of soliloquy in Stolas' little musical number had them both use the word love, oops. Will this terrible little lizard man actually ever say this out loud, more at 11. He spends the last five or so minutes of the episode in an absolutely disgusting state of domestic fondness, which I'm fully not expecting to extend beyond those five minutes, but who knows! He seems a fair amount more in-tune with himself after all this stress and (additional) trauma, so maybe he'll be less of a prick on purpose all the time press F for doubt.
Any other updates: So he's figured out how to use the crystal, which removes the handicap from before, but I'm perfectly happy to continue to assume it fucks up solely for the fact of it being in Escordvi and not Hell.

Questions/Other: i'm sorry for the fact that i'm gonna wind up doing this again sometime in january just so he's up to date with the whole of S2, i simply needed this update for Reasons

    Canon Update

    [personal profile] pinksidekicking 2025-01-07 02:32 am (UTC)(link)

    Player: Xae
    Character: Nimona
    Canon: Nimona
Current Canon Point: Post-Ballister "betrayal" (movie climax)
New Canon Point: Post-revival (end of the movie)
    Updated Background:

    TW: suicidal ideation

  • Nimona transformed into a giant shadow dragon back home, rampaged across the kingdom. Seeking her own death.
  • Ballister saved her, she then saved the city from the real villain and the giant laser cannon that was aimed at the center of the kingdom (that would have killed many innocent lives) by literally throwing her fiery phoenix self into it and making the cannon explode.
  • Nimona died in the fiery explosion of the cannon. She turned into pink sparkles.
  • The people started to see Nimona as a hero. The kingdom started taking down their wall to accept all the things they used to be afraid of.
  • Ballister and Ambrosius made up.
  • Nimona came back to life.

    Updated Personality:

Her relationship with Ballister was patched up, and he reached her when no one else could have through her darkness. Allowing her to transform back and for her to trust him again - to find that one person who was able to see her. Then Nimona decided it was time for her to rewrite this story, to stop being the villain and victim and become the hero instead. She was willing to sacrifice herself to save people that had always treated her as the monster. Nimona will just be more confident in herself, to stop letting herself be afraid and alone - which is kind of where she was already with some of the people in Escordvi. But she won't be afraid to eventually go home, because someone is there who accepts all of her.

Any other updates: It'll just be easier for her to transform into her phoenix form and harder to become the shadow dragon. She has also officially demonstrated her ability to die and come back to life, but I'm still playing by the death-life rules of the game.

Questions/Other: I'm good with this happening any time in January so no rush, mods.

    Canon Update

    [personal profile] velocityraptor 2025-07-06 08:02 am (UTC)(link)

    Player: Nat
    Character: Hawks / Keigo Takami
    Canon: My Hero Academia
Current Canon Point: Prior to the raid on the PLF.
New Canon Point: After the raid on the PLF.

Updated Background: Hawks returns home to finish his infiltration in the Paranormal Liberation Front, and coordinating the attack on the villain stronghold. As the heroes make their moves, he will be put into a position where he has to kill Twice and he will fight and lose to Dabi (as well as learning his identity, and the reason why he is who he is). Notably he will suffer a massive injury as his wings will be burnt off, along with the flesh on his back, neck, face and back of his arms.

He learns that Tokoyami cares for him more than he expected and he faces the fact that because Dabi will expose him as a heartless murderer - regardless if that's the truth or not - the public is no longer on his side. It's during this announcement that his name and identity, what little Dabi knows of it, is revealed to the public.

During the skirmish as well, the higher ups in the Hero Public Safety Commission are murdered by the villains, which essentially gives Hawks his freedom. In his personal life, he makes an attempt to visit his mother which ends in failure because she has once again bailed on him.

Updated Personality: Hawks is no longer forced to be quite so happy and gregarious, he can be himself. After this point he's a lot more quiet and reflective. He still smiles, but it's muted and often more genuine. He's also significantly riddled with guilt for having to kill someone he would've liked to have called a friend in another life.

Beyond that, it's the resurfacing of his name and identity which is not something he's dealt with and he feels wildly conflicted about that, and about his mother and everything else to do with his entire past. A lot of emotional scars have been opened up that he's going to have to try and push back down. He can be himself, hot mess and all.

Any other updates: No gain in abilities, but rather a temporary loss in the use of his quirk. Recovery time is likely several months and he will still be on a respiration mask for a bit because the man does not know how to rest. Currently speaking is also not advised, that's what text to speech is for. This too will clear up once he heals a bit more.

Questions/Other: Looking to depart at the end of July. He will be back cosplaying a mummy

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] steadypulse 2025-08-27 10:25 am (UTC)(link)

    Player: Leo
    Character: Soldier: 76
    Canon: Overwatch
Current Canon Point: Post Lucky Man
New Canon Point: Post Futures Past
Updated Background: After handing over an item that held some sort of data to Sombra, some time after she sends him out on another mission that would supposedly give him another lead for who really blew up the Swiss HQ; finally got a solid answer, knowing it wasn't Gabriel Reyes behind and of it. Meets up with Illari in Runasapi, and together they work to infiltrate an Oasis lab and delete the information they were uncovering about the Inti Warriors so they wouldn't be able to use it.; making Illari the last Child of the Sun. 76 sees himself in her.

During this we also see flashbacks of 76's ex-boyfriend Vincent, parts of their life together after meeting. From start to finish when they agreed to break it off.

With the mission in Runasapi finished, 76 lets go of the past to look more towards the future.

Updated Personality: While still being firm in the mission, 76 was able to let go of the past and instead look more towards the future. A sort of lightness, as if a burden he had weighing on him vanished. Realizing how stubborn he was in thinking he had to make the world a better place, that there was more to life than that-even now. Literally letting go of that picture he'd been keeping of himself and his ex Vincent.

Basically he's a bit more chill, a little more warmer. To the point he actually wrote a letter to Vincent, letting the man know that he had survived and hopes the man was doing well, but not to expect to see him. That Vincent was right as well, that there was more to life than that next fight.

Any other updates: Still has all of his gear and duffle bag- just minus one photograph. More ammo for his pulse rifle.

Questions/Other: Nothing I can think of.

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-12-03 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)

    Player: Clover
    Character: Kaveh
    Canon: Genshin Impact
    Current Canon Point: Patch 4.8
    New Canon Point: Patch 6.1
Updated Background: Strap in this one's a doozy

-Last fall, Kaveh participated in the first Sabzeruz Festival since Nahida was freed! He became a major part of planning the festivities and decorations, including designing the flower carriage Nahida was to ride in for the celebration.
-He also conspired with the rest of the gang to add extra surprises for Nahida's birthday! In particular, Kaveh designed what's called a candy tower, but is actually illustrated as a giant Bird Float that explodes into candy at a set time during the parade.
-Planning for the surprise is repeatedly derailed by Candace having strange and ominous visions of trouble, and by Nahida almost catching the group plotting multiple times, including when she comes back to specifically tell Kaveh he can talk to her whenever he needs a listening ear.
-Mehrak also briefly goes missing, much to Kaveh's dismay, only to have come back after having gone on a quest for coffee beans when she could not procure his coffee order.
-Nahida gifted all of Sumeru with a waking dream, courtesy of the Aranara, so now everyone in Sumeru has seen at least one Aranara.
-The party was a success, and Kaveh has a photo of the entire Sumeru gang with Nahida to commemorate the celebration. It's very dear to him.

-Due to the cataclysmic fighting and dire situation in Nod Krai vs one of the Five Sinners, Dori, via a warning from the mage Alice, contacts the Dendro Archon with this portent of doom.
-Nahida forms a research team to create a solution, and with those results tasks Kaveh with creating a device in order to safeguard the future.
-This device is used in tandem with an alchemical array to siphon a massive amount of abyssal energy and convert it to uncorrupted energy then used to power up Columbina, the Frostmoon Goddess, so she can defeat Rerir.
-Kaveh was not present for this but he knows what he made and what it's capable of and he has some Serious Concerns about what the hell Dori was using it for. He is also presumably privy to the research team's data, though the exact details are unknown to the player.

-Kaveh then becomes involved in assisting Layla in discovering what happened to her after an accident in a desert ruin. Mehrak's core is implied to have originally come from these ruins, and Mehrak is pivotal in disabling the devices and making their way through the ruins themselves.
-Alhaitham and Kaveh navigate one branch of the ruins together and uncover murals depicting desert history and the role Thoth played in these historical figures' lives--and their downfall.
-They flirt bicker egregiously the entire time and cannot be stopped.
-They then get to have a conversation with Thoth, who is possessing a chubby cat. It was a strange day. Thoth mentions that Mehrak seems to be happier as a suitcase and praises her name. Score for Kaveh.

-Kaveh can be assumed to now be tangentially aware of the events in Natlan, particularly that the people of Natlan can now travel to other nations, and aware that Something Very Fucky happened in Nod Krai, though not the exact particulars.

    Updated Personality:
-No major changes to Kaveh, aside from him having a harder and harder time hiding that he lives with Alhaitham in a way that's probably not allegorical for anything.
-Mehrak displays heightened sentience and autonomy, though is still at about the level of a warrior cat or small child in terms of understanding instructions.
-Kaveh cannot lie his way out of a wet paper bag.

    Any other updates:
--Not necessarily a NEW ability, but Kaveh's knowledge and ability to create devices based on principles of elemental absorption are now much more explicit.
--Kaveh appears to be in better shape, as he ran around a lot and didn't start wheezing at all! Everyone be proud of him!
--Mehrak's capabilities are FAR greater than previously understood; Mehrak can make simple decisions on her own, take initiative for helpful tasks, display excitement, and express a preference for her housemates. It can also, explicitly, get homesick.
--Mehrak is also apparently capable of traveling the entire ocean to deliver a package without Kaveh attached. I have included a map for visual reference of the distance she had to travel. This is never addressed.

Kaveh will return with Mehrak as usual, but with the following extra item on his person:
-a photo from the Sabzeruz Festival
-a few wrapped pieces of colorful candy
    -Anxiety

Questions/Other: he's extremely annoyed he's been shoved back in the closet for a year and a half I'll tell you what.

    CANON UPDATE

    [personal profile] indispensable 2025-12-03 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)

    Player: taso
    Character: Alhaitham
    Canon: Genshin Impact
    Current Canon Point: Version 4.8
New Canon Point: Version 6.1 (Luna II)

    Updated Background:

    • Was present for the events of the first Sabzeruz Festival held since the Dendro Archon's release from captivity (Version 5.1 flagship event - Chromatic Ode of Candies and Roses). He................ did jack shit honestly, aside from listening to Kaveh's excited ramblings on making a giant candy cannon and giving Candance some advice on her weird vision problems. He did however turn up for the afterparty at Pardis Dhyai and joined the group photo. There's no real indication if he was in the actual celebration itself, but I'm just assuming that he was. Present.

    • The Natlan Archon Quest happens; Alhaitham of course has no idea of the explicit details and events but it has been noted that the larger world of Teyvat now actually has travelers from Natlan freely and actively coming and going now where they once were sparse, if not virtually almost unheard of.

    • While there's no direct confirmation of his involvement, Dori brought up how "Kaveh's housemate" would ask him to ask Dori about the safety protocols of the projects that she involves him in (Version Luna II/6.1, Archon Quest Act VI). Based on that, the fact that they are still living together, and also the notion of the Dendro Archon having gathered "the best and brightest" for the project, I'm going to assume that he has decent awareness of what Kaveh is doing. He is also the Scribe, and all projects still presumably go through him.

    • Also, Nod-Krai is now a thing that exists. Retroactive knowledge go!!

    • Joined Kaveh (not that he needed much encouragement) in helping Layla figure out what happened to her after an incident out in the desert (Version Luna II/6.1 flagship event - Ruins Exploration: Fieldwise Center). Was the one who brought up the idea of using Mehrak, and with the rest of the gang head into the ruins Layla originally ended up in to discover the truth.

    • Flirts Works with Kaveh in navigating through one branch of the ruins, where they discover murals that pertain to two people famous in desert folklore, for their rise and subsequent downfall and the role Thoth, one of the Seven Pillars of King Deshret, played in them (spoiler: quite a bit, actually)/

    • The whole crew ends up encountering Thoth at the end, who lives while possessing a cat. Thoth helps them get out (or in Alhaitham's words, had no reason to keep them). Thoth also happens to namedrop a former Akademiya student by the name of Zandik, which may be of relevance in the very near future...

Updated Personality: No major changes. Man continues to vibe his way through life. His bickering with Kaveh has maybe become more egregious than ever.

Any other updates: Has had the name Zandik namedropped to him thanks to Thoth.
Also he will be coming back with another book on him! This time it is The Legends of Reed Miller, Thief Extraordinaire.

Questions/Other: He thinks Kaveh needs to stop making life hard for himself.
